Imbalance in Washington

There is no longer a balance of power in the federal government. The power of the Executive branch has grown at an alarming rate. The Constitution set up a system of checks and balances. It has been compromised. No one branch of government should be more powerful than the other two branches. The Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches are supposed to be equal. They are checks on each other. If the branches are not equal the republic can not stand for men seek to increase their own power. No man or men can be trusted with absolute power.

In the last year we have seen the Executive branch grow and expand its power dramatically. It exercises powers that it has not been granted. It publicly scolds and scorns the Judiciary and in doing so cites incorrect facts. The power of the legislative branch is gradually being leeched away and Congress does not protest. At times they seem complicit. Why is Congress silent? They are allowing themselves to become irrelevant.

The Legislative branch of the federal government needs to wake up and act to restore the balance of power to our government. They need to stop this slow motion coup d’etat.

Destroying the Economy

We see the economy struggling to recover. As it does, Congress and the Administration continue to erect roadblocks that will prevent it. They seek to place more and more burdens on businesses - large and small. Small business is the engine of our economy. Normally small businesses create about 70% of our new jobs. Currently, small businesses are creating almost all of our new jobs. Big business is standing back waiting to see what basic rules the government will change next.

Government has turned the world upside down with its business take-overs and business controls. New and higher taxes are being purposed. More and more, the government is telling businesses what they can and cannot do. Cap + Trade will strangle businesses unless they are one of the select few who will wildly profit from it. Small businesses will be devastated. Health care mandates will damage businesses and Congress ignores the fact that the vast majority of Americans do not want a large invasive government run plan. We want a smaller, less expensive privately run plan. Government, however, likes large, expensive legislation that increases its size and power.

As the federal government taxes and spends, seeking to extend its control of our lives and livelihoods, it is killing the goose that lays the golden eggs. If you destroy the economy, you are also destroying yourselves. Washington politicians remind me of the story of the frog and scorpion. The scorpion stings the frog even though he knows his actions will drown them both. When he was asked why he did it, he replied "It's the nature of a scorpion". It is the nature of politicians to seek more power and control even though they must know their greed will destroy the system that gives them their power.

Washington needs to control its nature and its urge to tax,spend, and increase its power and size. Can you think of the good of the country and be an American not a politician?

Balence of Power

From The Electorate:

The balance of power in our federal government is no longer in balance. Does this not disturb Congress? The executive branch has become a many headed monster that is a power unto itself. Powers that are vested in Congress are ignored.

We have so many czars that Russian should become our second language. These czars are unelected, unconfirmed, and responsible only to the Executive branch. Where is Congressional oversight?

Today broad new regulations with broad new powers are being placed on our financial institutions. Should not Congress have a say in how our financial institutions are regulated? Is Congress to become a rubber stamp? Is it no longer relevant? Congress is the branch of federal government that is most responsible to the people. You are our voices. Are our voices going to be ignored and silenced?
